Nasi Jamblang

Nasi Jamblang is one of the most popular foods in Cirebon. Started out in a small food stand which sold rice and its humble side dishes wrapped in Jamblang leaves to factory workers around Jamblang Market in 1907, it now has spread around Cirebon without too many changes in terms of the food. Usually, the side dishes include Sambal Goreng, Boiled Potato Satay, Circle Shaped Egg, Fried Tofu, and all other normal foods that are not uncommon to be found in normal people houses. Its appeal comes from the cheap price and the distinction in the taste. This distinction probably can be attributed to the use of Jamblang leaves as the wrapper, which gives it an earthy taste. People who come to Cirebon, especially who pass by the Pasar Jamblang should come to the original stand of Nasi Jamblang and try it.
